Quality is a term that is not mentioned enough in our everyday conversations but does it need to be? I personally believe that quality is expected, especially coming from a consumer’s point of view. According to Goetsch & Davis (2010), quality has many definitions but there are enough similarities that exist among the definitions that common elements can be extracted: quality involves meeting or exceeding customer expectations, quality applies to people, products, services, and environments, and quality is an ever-changing state. With that being said, quality is a dynamic state associated with products, services, people, processes, and environments that meets or exceeds expectations and helps produce superior value. Every individual has a different viewpoint of what quality is, it is however in the eye of the beholder. This may be a big statement but I do not believe that this world could exist without quality! The human species thrive off of quality. People want quality products (clothes, water, food, cars, jewelry, medication, and etc.) and service. Quality does not cost anything; it is poor quality that would cost you money. There also would be no need of any market without quality. Customer satisfaction is everything, if customers are not satisfied because of poor quality, money will not exchange hands and that particular organization would not survive. Imagine every company on this earth lacking quality; having a human race on this earth would be impossible. Just think, medication is very important to the human race; if people produced medication of poor quality it would be detrimental to the human race. CT-Yankee (2010) mentioned that: air bags would deploy under conditions for which they are not intended, causing serious injury, millions of people would get sick from water contamination, and more than 50,000 Americans would die from medical errors this year if quality did not exist in this world. I could go on and on about how this world would be but to sum it up, this world could not exist without it.
