Isn't the goal of a mentor is to inspire our mentees to think for themselves?

Think-for-Yourself"Mr. Roddy, you never tell me what to do. Why? "Many youth have shared this statement with me over the years.

Larry, when we meet I only want to listen and ask questions.

"Why Mr. Roddy?" Asking questions gives you time to think and reflect on your thoughts.  You already know the answers!

One of my rules as a mentor is: Never tell the mentee what to do!  It's their life!  They need to learn from their decisions in order to take responsibility and learn from their decisions.

Wouldn't it make a difference if youth were encouraged to think, share and question their surroundings?
